We run follwing the wilder track of the Straccabike race and the advantage is clear: the trail is well tracked by several permanent tags and the route is well maintained also in the most exposed and wilder passages in the woods. The start is by the Main Roads 310 just after the end of village of Papiano and the trouts breeding of Ponte Biforco; we can start by the pull-in just below the tag welcoming in the Foreste Casentinesi National Park.
We shortly follow the paved road than we turn left on a white road quickly and continously rising. Passed beyond a gate (in the picture the beehives in the wood), and some buildings used as shelters, we turn left and we enter the forest. The trail now becomes harder, it cuts a very steep slope and it requires a lot a deep attention for 2,5 Km. Anyhow the trail is dramatic and funny, deep in a wonderful environment. La route converge again in the white road and shortly later meets Casa l'Oia, another building used as a shelter. We continue nowthe white road light up and down always following the signs until across of three roads in Bocca Pecorina. We get the trail on the left (well signed as usual) and we go down first slightly in the middle of the scrub then hardly with a very technical track, to be taken with some care but very funny.
We approach the fields of Maestà di Montalto and by the small parking area we cross the road and we continue by small white roads and smaller tracks down to the main road, where we rise for few hundreds of meters until the starting point. Medium-Hard.
